All the rules fell The Beatles - Revolver the wayside with Revolveras the Beatles began exploring new sonic territory, lyrical subjects, and styles of composition. It wasn't just Lennon and McCartneyeither -- Harrison staked out his own dark territory with the tightly wound, cynical rocker "Taxman"; The Beatles - Revolver jaunty yet dissonant "I Want to Tell You"; and "Love You To," George 's first and best foray into Indian music.

Such explorations were bold, yet they were The Beatles - Revolver by Lennon 's trippy kaleidoscopes of sound. His most straightforward number was "Doctor Robert," an ode to his dealer, and things just got stranger from there as he buried "And Your Bird Can Sing" in a maze of multi-tracked guitars, gave Ringo a charmingly hallucinogenic slice of childhood whimsy in "Yellow Submarine," and then capped it off with a triptych of bad trips: the spiraling "She Said She Said"; the crawling, druggy "I'm Only Sleeping"; and "Tomorrow Never Knows," a pure nightmare where John sang portions of the Tibetan Book of the Dead into a suspended microphone over Ringo 's thundering, menacing drumbeats and layers of overdubbed, phased guitars and tape loops.

McCartney 's experiments were formal, as he tried on every pop style from chamber pop to soul, and when placed alongside Lennon 's and Harrison 's outright experimentations, McCartney 's To Love Somebody - The Raes - The Raes becomes all the more impressive.

The biggest miracle of Revolver may be that the Beatles covered so much new stylistic ground and executed it perfectly on one record, or it may be that all of it holds together perfectly. Even after Sgt. PepperRevolver stands as the ultimate modern pop album and it's still as emulated as it was upon its original release. AllMusic relies heavily on Cycles - Edgar Meyer - Unfolding. 1. Revolver was the ultimate Beatles album. The US version deleted several Lennon songs that appeared on the US only Yesterday and Today LP. This reissued U.K. (now worldwide) version of Revolver is their best effort. The quality of the songs and the musicanship is unmatched then and now.
  2. Oct 31,  · Oh my god. Last night listening to Revolver was a revolutionary experience. A completely different level of Beatles music. I had the Stereo LP and I've listened to that probably a solid times so I have a pretty good experience in Revolver's sound/5(K).
  3. User Reviews. Revolver is often heralded as the best Beatles album and one of the greatest albums of all time. The Fab Four are undeniably on top form, with each member leaving their own blueprint on this record. John Lennon and Paul McCartney cement their place among the most talented and inventive songwriters of the century, 10/
  4. Oct 31,  · When Epstein died the Beatles were somewhat lost and each one would find his own songwriting abilities. The suits were gone and their songs were unable to be played live, thus phase 3 of the super group. Revolver started it all at that time. Sgt. Pepper the next great album and Abbey Road to complete the trifecta/5(K).
  5. Jun 17,  · Provided to YouTube by Universal Music Group Tomorrow Never Knows (Remastered ) · The Beatles Revolver ℗ Calderstone Productions Limited (a division of Universal Music Group) Released.
  6. The latest Beatles album 'Revolver' certainly has new sounds and new ideas, and should cause plenty of argument among fans as to whether it is as good as or better than previous efforts. One thing seems certain to me - you'll soon all be singing about a 'Yellow Submarine'.
